Children's Art Class - The Parents Make it Happen
Our fall art class for children who are blind – and their siblings and their parents – is now officially over. As we get to the holidays, it becomes very difficult to work with the demanding schedules our parents face. Even so, we are working on a hayride and then a holiday party. Depending upon some funding requests, we hope to get back to work as soon as we can and begin work on a large-scale mosaic project. You can read more about our instructor Rebecca Quattrone here on our website.
I mentioned the parents' demanding schedules. The other week I happened to overhear some of the parents as they were discussing their children and their activities. It is a testament to these parents that they choose not to stay at home when that would be far easier than to bundle up the kids and drive them to ForSight. Certainly children who are blind are most likely going to have more challenges in their lives than those with good sight. We live in a visual society and vision loss is a difficult challenge. But each and every one of the children in our Art Class – sighted and blind – has the advantage of nurturing and caring parents. While they will have obstacles to overcome, they also will have a strong support system to help them meet those obstacles.
Well done, Parents.
